I usually use Premium Ethanol fuel 90+ oct. The past few times I've been using the Non-ethanol fuel with oct. of like 86.. Car seams to run better even tho the octane is lower. The car is a 1975 so it was built during the transition to Ethanol. When I rebuilt it the things I only changed were Timing set to (0*), cam, intake 2bbl to 4bbl, cleaned up the ports, stock manifolds, true Duel exhaust. But I'm looking into headers.

Just wanted to put this out there.

good luck take care be safe

1975 or so was the transition to unleaded, not ethanol.

yes the non ethanol will slightly richen the fuel mixture, and you don’t need much octane with a smog era engine.

You may want to bump up the initial timing to 10*-12* to find some more power. With as low as the compression was in the mid 70's, you shouldn't have a problem with detonation.
