Anyone know anything about El Caminos? Specifically a 69 with a 350 (4 bolt) auto (TH350? w/3000 stall) and a 12 bolt with ralleys and in running/driving condition.

I'm just wonderin:HappyNewYear:

Pictures? Shape? any more info?

About 50% of an equivilaent Chevelle.

The Elcos don't get much love even from the Chevy boys.

I have never understood it. As much as the American public is in love with trucks you would think that the combo of a muscle car and a pickup would be a no brainer, but that is not the case. OTOH, for the people that agree with my train of though they are a deal.

It has fresh paint (thankfully WHITE) and will need attention in the bed (especially around the edges of the floor) with black interior. It will probably need carpet, and a dash pad (cracked). Gauge faces are also fairly foggy. The grill, side markers, and tail lights are all pretty nice, but not show quality. Underhood is pretty typical....layers of black on top of black, rusty headers (but not ruined) chrome "Chevrolet" valve covers, aluminum intake, and a relatively new 720? Holley with the very ordinary 14" chrome breather.

It really needs to be ripped apart and redone. Most of the trim is fairly good, but some will need to be replaced. Rear window will need to be replaced as well. Wheels, centers, and rings (as well as tires) are in pretty good shape. But the paint job on the wheels sucks.

SS or not?If its a SS tack another $3000 on.Pretty common for the back window to leak and rusting in the spare tire well.Had one back in the mid 80s,350 with a 4 gear and a posi. One of the funnest cars i have had, just roast the tires right off if you wanted.

Not badged as an SS, but is supposedly an original 350 unit. Original motor is gone, but has a 4 bolt in it's place. From about 10-15 feet, it really doesn't look bad at all. Worst thing about it is someone bolted the 1st gen Camaro SS 396 "velocity stacks" to the hood.

Here in the south east a lot of Good Ole Boys favor those darn things, They figure they have a Chevelle and something they can haul a deer or their dog in the back, ........I bought a 70 model about 3 years ago to flip, original 350 car, but it had a hot 396 in it with cowl induction hood and SS badges (not a REAL SS), It sold like Ice on a Hot day, sold the second day after I put it on the market, You have to watch for bed and quarter condition if they are beat to hell or rusted to death it's like a nail in the coffin.

It sounds like it's just a plane Jane car that needs a lot of help and might not be worth putting a lot of effort in to. If it were a 64 - 67 or a factory SS 396 then it would be a different story. You might check the body tag (on the firewall near the master cyl I think) and see what it is for yourself.

I looked at the tag, but the light was so bad I couldn't read it. It is showing rust discoloration around the edge of the bed floor at the front. (that a bolt in piece?)

I spotted this thing sitting a few weeks ago. My truck isn't here, and I'm having withdrawals from the whole hot rod thing. If I get out today I'll try to snap a couple of pics of it to post.

I knew it was not the best to ask WIW without pics, but I didn't take my camera that day. Today I took some pics and was confronted by the guy who took me for a ride in it the other day. Suffice it to say we had that "so-n-so at the place where we buy parts for it says it's worth $12,000 (not what they're asking btw)" and have about decided to pass.

BUT it would be remiss of me to have taken the pics and not post them. So here ya go. Anyone want to give a value with the pics??

Is that $7500 on the windshield? Looks like a $2500 car to me

I'm guessing that's Lawton Oklahoma, and at the moment that isn't very close to me.

Looking at this thread has made me very thankful that Mopar never did crap like this back in the day, I would hate to see the Charger, Road Runner, Super Bee, R/T,GTX, or GOD forbid a Challenger, Cuda front end with a freaking truck bed on hanging on the *** end of it.

Naahh...if they had built it, we would have thought they were cool. The Aussies have A body versions of this, and they dig them like every other MOPAR built down there (and up here too)

I'd rather find some kickass MOPAR to pick up and "tinker" with till I make the big readjustment, but as yet I haven't seen anything near me. I'd love to have Russ' 66 and am considering it. But it's 700+ miles away and my truck is not available
