Saw this on craigslist not sure if it will fit in B body but its a decent price. 3:55 gears Supposedly came out of a little red express truck. Looks like it does have bolt holes for a pinion snubber. It’s probably a 9-1/4 Dana if it’s out of a LRE. The easiest way to tell is if the axle tubes are necked down at the ends.

Ahh well crap... Like I said I'm not well versed on Dana rearends. Everything I read says its a 9.25 so its probably only useful to someone with a LRE. But it is a "positrac" lol with 3:55 gears.

Only passenger Car Dana 60’s had the snubber so this could still be a super deal guys....Need a better pic of the snubber area to see if it’s modified or stock. The BOM will tell the story if the snubber looks stock.

Flat on the top, Dana has one bolt at the top a kinda round up there. Look at the other pic of shortened Dana

Nope....the CL ad in post #1 is a 9 1/4. They used them in most of the 1/2 ton pickups with V8's in them. Even my 2000 Durango had one. Kinda wish I had kept a key to the thing because the X will probably trade the car in on some mini pile. I ordered the Durango with a LSD and 3.90 gears.

The rear end is a 9 1/4 from a 79 Express truck.

The prices of original Dana 60 rear axles, have gone crazy again lately. I bought two 68 to 70 B body Dana 60 rear axles at Carlisle about 4 years ago for the price people are asking and getting for one of them these days. Unless you have a car that came from the factory with a Dana 60, and it is missing, as most are,then maybe for the correct date coded axle, I can see spending the long dollar for one. With most people going to the 9 inch rear axle for racing applications, I would have expected the prices of Dana 60s to drop, but they have gone up in price not down. Even with companies like Strange making reproduction Dana 60s that have the correct snubber mounts on them,the price has still gone up on original Dana 60s. The same goes for 18 spline Hemi 4 speed transmissions, you would think with all of the overdrive transmission options available now the prices of them would have dropped, and it is not the case!

Ad is a 9 1/4, NOT Dana 60. A 3.55 limited slip 9 1/4 is a stout piece, price seems good.

There are many articles written about 91/4 diffs,
Richard Erhenberg (sp) wrote a good one I believe. Someone wrote that they better than a Ford 9 inch. I think they are good to 650 hp, not positive, could be more.

I called the guy. His name is Gary. He said he thought it was a Dana 60 and advertised it as such. He said a Mopar guy came by and looked at it and gave him a school on Mopar rearends. He said he has since changed the ad. He is now offering that rearend for $350 and will include with it a 92 Dakota rear with it that needs bearings. The primary rearend is a 9 1/4 rearend from 79 Red Express truck. The other is the Dakota.
