They are illegal on city streets for various reasons. No insurance, not registered, and loud. They ride around in packs not obeying laws, stop lights etc. There are plenty of legal places to ride. I have two dirt bikes, but I dont ride a two stroke motor at 2am up and down the street. I have respect for people.

not illegal to buy just to ride in the new york city streets. but its ok to smash and grab at the local high end stores

The police have monthly auctions for cars, bikes and boats for 90% of what's collected. The better 10% is saved for undercover cops and city workers. Problem is where do you think most of the bikes come from? These guys dont go to a dealer and make monthly payments!! Cops cant do their jobs with their hands tied!
