Gents,

I have oil leaking from an intake manifold bolt on the driver's side of my 440. It is one of the middle bolts, basically under the throttle cable connection to the carb. I know it's hard to see in the pictures but the oil pools in the "valley" of the intake manifold next to the bolt head. The manifold is bolted to a Mopar Performance (Edelbrock Performer RPM) head. I pulled the bolt and sure enough the bottom half is covered in oil. The leak is easy enough to fix with a little thread sealer, the question is:

Is it normal for the intake manifold bolt to intercept the oil galley in a Mopar Performance head? I assume the answer is yes, it just never occurred to me before. I never heard of "sealing" your intake manifold bolts, but I'm no expert...

Don't know anything about the Eddy heads but I don't think the oil feed to the rockers is anywhere near the intake bolts? What do you have for a PCV, I wonder if you might be building some pressure in the crank? Is it a blind hole or does it go all the way threw to the lifter valley?

Here we go, sure looks like they would just go into the pushrod area where they would be open to oil? I'd check your PVC and seal it up with some RTV.

Thanks 747. I have a PCV valve on the passenger side valve cover with a feed to the carb, and a breather on the driver's side. I'm pretty sure they are working - as far as I can tell at least. I didn't look into the hole (would have been a good idea) when I had the bolt out...

Pipe dope on the threads should cure the oil leak. And while you're at it do them all one at a time.

They're exposed to the oil in the drain back area, the oil just wicks up the threads, nowhere near an oil galley. A small amount of RTV will cure it & yes, do them all.

I had a few leaking like that also, just a bit of sealer on the threads cured it.
