I recently bought a '68 Coronet R/T and I was concerned because the oil pressure reads too low on a fresh rebuild. It has the Rallye gauge package. I grounded the wire at the sending unit, and the gauge went up to the max reading. The gauge reads 20 lbs at idle and only 30 lbs at 2500 with the engine warmed up. I removed the sending unit and installed a direct reading gauge. It reads 40 lbs at idle and 50 lbs at 2500 rpm. I bought another sending unit and it reads 20 & 30 just like the first one. The sending unit has a small orifice. Has anyone tried enlarging the size of the orifice to increase the reading at the gauge?
