Ol' Man Winter Is Finally Here. ...

Just got off the phone with one of my oldest buddies who lives out there. I helped him move out there in 1980. He hates it there, but his wife is a native...so he's stuck for the duration. He saw our snow and Christmas lights photo, and was jealous. I told him.....MOVE!

My wife and I don't smoke in the house if my granddaughter is here , she isn't two yet. So I bought a portable fish hut, like a tent really, put it on my deck put a heater in it ,table , chairs and a light. It's the new smoke house.

Rick that is being a very good grandparent. We have ours every sat night and make our son and daughter in law come to church to get her back on sundays.

You guys in Cali suck right now..... 8 inches of snow and counting today. I wish it was worth having a snowmobile but I don't have enough extra for to many toys, so the Coronet will have to do. Have fun in the sun and driving your cars :steering:

We have Sadie 60hrs a week for 2wks of the month while her mother is on days, my son watches her when she is on afternoons, but, usually ends up at our house for dinner.lol:lol:

Don't wish that on anyone. Snowmobiles may be fun, but they are about the biggest money pit a guy can have. Happiest day of my life was when I sold mine

I've had mine for 10 years & I really haven't needed to put much into them, but in addition to the outlay of the machines, a trailer, clothing & registration costs certainly add to it.

There's 133 inches so far at Jay Peak, cant say as winter has really begun here yet. Needs to reach at least 20 feet first...lol. We have about 3 inches in the yard so far, not really winter here yet. I love to see the geese winging South every year, the beautiful fall colors, the quiet of a new snowfall as I walk out to the barn, the Christmas lights against the snow in the evening, hot chocolate and cider in front of a blazing fireplace with my wife and dogs around me. Cant beat it, wouldn't leave it.

It's a really big Lake.....
Or really big County.....
NE PA got about 8" overnight not too bad
Yeah, as kids we loved the Lake Effect Snow! The town sits in a 25 mile long crescent on the lake shore with the apex of the crescent curve about 5 miles inland. The whole crescent is about 1/4 mile lower than the rest of the area so the lake effect snow comes onshore and stops dead until enough has fallen for the clouds to lift up over the hill and continue on. Lots of snow every year. It looks like French wine land there, rows and rows of Concord grapes everywhere.

We had 5 of them when we were kids, 2 Polaris, 2 Arctic Cats, and a Rupp. Always had plenty of snow there though, lots of places these days don't really get enough to make the cost worthwhile.

Just got through cleaning up 7" of that ****.

Just sold my snowmobile last year after riding for about 18 years. It was starting to get old (and so am I). Never was much of a money pit though, but that's probably because my riding buddy and I maintained the hell out of them. It was a spring ritual to go up to his cabin in Eagle River Wisc. and spend a day adjusting, lubing and cleaning them for the next season.

Just spent two hours plowing...wouldn't have it any other way!

My Uncle Dick was a Rupp dealer and racer so we would take them up there to do the same thing every spring. He had a huge building, 100' x 80' and we stored them in there all year. Had a big bonfire type cookout then with many families and neighbors.

These babies are tuned and ready to go! They've been good dependable sleds and I haven't had to put much into them.

Now if you were talking about boats...agree completely! Happiest day for me was unloading that 32 foot money pit.

I've been riding for about 18 years myself & I'm kind of thinking that this may be my last year. We'll see how good of a winter it is.

Had 3 scorpions, an Artic Cat, and a John Deere growing up. We're reliable until they got to be 30 years old. Spent less money on the 5 of them than I did a single Polaris 750 Indy. rebuilding the middle cylinder and rejetting the carbs got old.. Good riddance.

Bought my 07 FST from a guy who decided to pack it in at 75! My back seems okay with sledding but my carpal tunnel issues make it challenging. We had no snow last year and sure got me thinking about it.
