MOPAR faithful: Cruiser here with a useful hint for those few of us out there who still have an operating 8-Track player in our MOPAR rides. My 1969 Charger came from the factory with the code R22 AM/8-Track radio. I've noticed that as the tapes age, they become somewhat sloppy in the insertion slot, resulting in a misalignment with the playback head when it's playing a tape. This sloppiness results in "crosstalk", which is the effect of hearing some of the music on the adjacent tracks. It sounds like two songs are playing over one another. To cure this, simply wedge a matchbook under the tape while the tape is playing. This will eliminate the sloppiness, and you'll only hear one song playing instead of two. Back in the seventies, everyone carried matchbooks in their glove compartments to cure just such a problem. Try it and feel free to comment. Thanks!
