My old 318 poly (1964) has a PCV valve on the passenger's valve cover. But it's not the cheap plastic and metal can type found today, but rather a solid all metal valve built (solidly) into the cap for that valve cover. Also, unlike newer 'throw-away' PCV valves, it can be taken apart and cleaned.
It is likely the original valve, and is packed with carbon and sludge. I took it apart and tried to clean it, but the spring inside has broken in pieces. I called around the local parts houses, but nobody understands what I'm talking about. Does anyone know of any parts chains that have them, or where I can get one?
Or, preferedly, can I modify the cap to accept a more moden valve? Thanks!
