A weekly routine in Smiths Falls.. damn near looks like it even, but the factory in the background is on the wrong side of the tracks..
You'd think a simple sign would suffice.London Ontario - Talbot St. just south of Oxford. I used to live about 300 yards north of this. It was a regular occurrence. I took this photo maybe 6 years or so ago. They have now put in massive beams on each side of the train bridge so people hit the beam rather than the bridge.
Unless your the driver.Sign.. never.. LOL. As a kid my buddy lived 3 doors from the train bridge in Smiths Falls, highway to Merrickville. Hershey plant just beyond it. Best load to watch was loads of lumber... LOL. Just like the game pick up sticks..
Same thing in Durham N.C. Guy has had a video camera set up there for years. RR raised the bridge and some still hit it, flashing billboard and all.
I know exactly where that bridge is. They start warning drivers about that bridge for over a mile before they hit it.
Yes, mostly 26' box trucks. Ryder has probably paid for that bridge 100 times over. That is A WHOLE LOT OF MAYHEM! A lot of rental trucks - non professional drivers?
Ive been watching you tube videos of that bridge for years. Made me go out and measure our new (to us) box truck (12 ft).
What amazes me is that i have never seen one of the instant-stop trucks get rearended.
I am 13'6" at the top of my exhaust stacks. I get chills when I see a sign that says 13'6" on the interstate. They raised it to 12 ft 4 in and some rental trucks are still scraping it. I've never seen a rear ender either. Most of the time other drivers are aware of what's about to happen and get out of the way.
I have been known to "dump" my air bags on some bridges. LOL.. and think to yourself WHICH LANE>> WHICH LANE>>
