I'm adding a camera, but I have to have the additional mirror because I am used to using it in traffic on my other vehicles.
I'd like to see pics of your Charger. I had a 73 long ago. Also 16?
On my 73 I replaced the manual mirror that was about the same size as a 50 cent piece with a rallye mirror, which used the same mounting points, and added a passenger side rallye mirror.
I simply measured the mounting hole locations on the driver's side, and transferred them over, marking them with a pencil.
Took about 20 min. hardest part was fishing the remote cable through the driver's door and getting it to stay out of the way of the glass going up and down.
I've bought two sets off ebay for less than $50, but that's not the norm.
Be careful as there are 75 and up mirrors that look like 71-74 but have a totally different mounting style and won't work unless you do serious fab work.
Also, IIRC 71 is slightly different with respect to the spacing of the screw holes (closer together).
E body and A body rallye mirrors can look similar. E body has a real tight sharp corner on the pass side housing.
Not sure about A body.
There isn't enough movement in the mirror to be able to give you good vision. Perhaps if the mirror had a slight convex curve to it vision would be better, but still, the main problem is that it doesn't have enough adjustment in it.
The OP is looking for one for a 71 & I have no idea if they are any better or not.
Thought that I had a B body, but just looking for something functional, as I plan to use it as a daily driver. I'm not particular to the year/style, I just don't want to hit people.
Those round, remote style 66-70 Mirrors are better than the "two poster" or the base mirror in glass surface area.
The 71-74 is an oval, not quite as tall, but considerably wider.
Part of the problem, esp with Chargers and 71-74 is that the quarter panel is higher than the mirror mount, causing the quarter to take up a LOT of the viewing area.
Also they're not "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" style.
Less of a view radius, but more accurate distance judgment.
