Anyone have a picture of the back of the original radio installed in the dash of a 69 b-body? I am trying to see which wires from the radio connect to the center dash speaker. There are 2 set of wires that come out of the back of the stock radio. Neither of the 2 set of wires have the right female spade connector to plug into the speakers. Any ideas?

Wiring schematic shows:
right speaker- black and dark green w/ tracer
center speaker-black and light green
left speaker-black and light green w/ tracer

The other plug looks like:
red w/ tracer
orange
white

Hope this helps

Speakers

THOSE SPEAKERS ARE PRICED REALLY CHEAP!!! I THOUGHT THEY WOULD BE ALOT HIGHER.:eusa_think:.THANKS RICK.

ok... solved it.... green wire from original radio is the positive for the center speaker and the black wire is the negative for the center speaker....

here are the speakers I ended up going with:

The magnet are these new center speakers is much shallower which allows the heater control cable stuff to be able to route cleanly behind the dash...

I had bought one of the dual speaker set up style center speakers from Year One- a Ken Harrison I think, and the base of the speaker was so big that I couldnt get it to fit....

Went with these Polk Audio's on my bird's center. Heater control cables where tight, but fit around just fine. 220 Watts of Rock N' Roll!!

Citadel --

I sent you a PM with a few questions about the vendor, speakers and install. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I realize I'm a bit late to the thread and may be a bit off topic but concerning the vendor- I love them! I have a recently aquired 69 Beeper that I could NOT get the thumbwheel radio to fit properly worth a da*m (radio came w/ car). After some research I found that 1.) I had a Dart thumbwheel radio that has the wrong bezel on it and 2.) The aftermarket speaker was too deep for the radio to really slide into position with it in place. Plus the speaker was smacking the temp control cables. One call to these guys and within a week I had a perfectly fitting speaker and wonder of wonder, after a little bezel modification the radio and everything fit into place like it was suppose to. Great vendor, great product.

Thanks, Funship. I'm glad to hear you also had such a good experience with them. I just picked up a thumbwheel radio I think I'm going to have them restore and add an Aux jack to. I also want to get a set of their speakers. When you installed the front speaker on your road runner did you have the dash in the car or apart and out? With the radio out can you get the speaker past the heater cables to get it installed from the underside? I'm hoping to be able to get both the radio and speaker switched without having to take too much apart.

Thanks again,

Jack

I had the dash out. I am not sure who easy it is with the dash in. Someone on the site may know or you can ask the vendor.

Yes you can get the speaker out with the dash in, heater controls in and radio out. The speaker is secured in by the inner studs and pal nuts the defrost vents secure with
