hello All, just purchased a entire jack kit for my 67 GTX. As you can see in the title, my car was built in 12/13/66. some say that he jack should be painted grey since it was built in 66. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of this info please?

so the pics show that the base is the only item painted grey? And this is for a car that was built in 66? just making sure please.

also, what is the correct color black and grey that I should use?

also, forgot to ask what the spring color should be. Have seen grey and black.

Just showing the unmolested jack in the back of my '66 Sat. Had 9908 miles on it when I bought it. Your mileage may vary...

The earliest 67 GTX I have, the jack is gray.

The jack has never been out, and the spare is the original Goodyear redline tire, never on the ground. Build date 1/20/67.

spring is clear zinc plated

All the jack pieces in mine are a semi gloss black
If they are 100% OEM , Im not sure,,,, but they look like original paint, nicks scratches and all

My car is a mere Belvedere II, but I don't think that would make any difference... but the jack itself and the base are grey, the 'hook' is black and the spring is a black oxide looking finish. It's a 50k mile 3 owner car with a build date of 10/10/66 at St Louis.

Which plant was your ‘67 GTX built at?

I also was just told that 66 build cars have a gray, base plate, hook and jack mechanism. only the lug wrench is black. so who knows. have seen many combinations.

My 66 Satellite 3/15/66 base and jack mechcaniism Rustolium Dove grey a good match. In 3rd pic can see corner of base of base. Lug wrench is black.

Don’t think in terms of being in the same calendar year your SPD date is. Think in model year. Plant can make a difference too.

I think Jerry’s and Guy’s original 1967 model year cars with closer SPD dates to yours are a better determination than 1966 model year cars built in 1966.

Best would be a B-body from LA plant near your SPD date.

My hook was black. I should've said St.Louis plant. I first saw the ad in local paper, a friend bought the car. He did nothing with the car for 4/5 years. I bought the car in 1978, so I know what parts were messed with. Hood ornament, both carbs stoden and the radiator.

jerry, What color is your hook?
I will look today, I know the lug wrench is black and the cup for the tire board is also black. The wing nut and hold down nut and bolts are clear zinc. I took everything out thirty something years ago and inspected when I bought the car, but can't remember the hook color now that asked. I do remember that there was only about 10 lbs of original air in the spare, so I aired it up, so that probably needs to happen again.
