Is that a C body top plate? Asking the question because of the lack of ribs. When I did my 5 speed conversion, I sandblasted my top plates and painted them matte black.

I love chrome but to me, this looks better than the stock setup.
It was a '67 top plate but I don't know if it was from a C body. I bought it from a member here.Is that a C body top plate? Asking the question because of the lack of ribs.
As far as I know, the only aluminum top plates like that were on C Bodies. I am sure someone will either confirm or correct me.It was a '67 top plate but I don't know if it was from a C body. I bought it from a member here.
Yes it is the same pot metal base. The 66-7 Chargers have the aluminum top plate which is an overlay on the ribbed base like your picture, same as the C bodies had.View attachment 1227613 View attachment 1227614 View attachment 1227615
It seemed like the same "pot metal" material as my original 1970 plates.
What paint did you use to redo your top plate? Did you sand it all down first? I have some paint that chipped off and it looks like a really shiny metal underneath, didn't know if this would take to regular spray can metal paint?I didnt take any befores, forgot to but it was in ruff shape. Polished the aluminum and repainted the black. Now its ready to go back on.
