In December of 1933, Mom and her mother travelled from San Francisco to New York City on a ship named the SS Pennsylvania. First class passage cost $275.00. They went to New York to attend the Worlds Fair.

The Panama Canal was pretty new back then. When I was there in the 90's it wasnt so shiney anymore.
 
I'll bet that was a trip of a lifetime in 1933 too...

$275 in 1933 = like $5000 in 2021
