Parking brake cable wearing on top of exhaust pipe

I found a small grove in the pipe that runs from the exhaust manifold to the muffler on the driver's side on my custom exhaust setup. The culprit is the parking brake cable that is sitting on top of the pipe. The cable itself has a little wear on it too.

if its doing that, then there is not enough tension on the cable when the brake is off. It should be snug up to the floorboards, but not snug enough that the brake shoes are engaged.
