Can someone tell me what the problem is please Parking lights go when the headlight switch is on at the parking light position. The parking lights blink when the emergency flasher is turned on. The appropriate parking light blinks when the turn signals are activated. The problem comes when the headlight switch is fully turned on for the headlights and the parking lights go out. The headlight switch is brand new. Can't figure this out. Bad switch? How disappointing!

Thanks,

i replaced my head light switch with a standard blue streak . and not the only one but they cant take the
power. head lights go off after 10 minutes. so i installed a relay before the dimmer switch.
so maybe its a bad switch.

What year.. some only run front parking or headlights and not both. '67 I'm fairly certain is one of them.

Whew..what a relief. I guess I assumed that the parking lights stayed illuminated with the headlights. A great big THANK YOU to dadsbee and 1 Wild R/T. What year did parking/running lights stay on with the headlights? I suppose it was something that the Government required at some point.

'69 for sure.. and I think '68 with at least a rallye cluster. Not sure if it was a reg thing or just keeping load off the alternator on earlier stuff.

Not sure when they started staying on but we recently added a diode to the parking light circuit of a 65 Dart to make the parting lights stay on with the headlights...

Had 3 '66 Coronets, all had parking lights go out when headlights went on.

headlights and parking lights come on ]with head lights. i can send the wiring diagam on mondasy fro the shop manual i have it at work. if you cant find it online. but one thing for sure i would cut the power wire for the headlights before it goes into the h/l beam switch on the floor and install a modern relay
after you find you issue

I have looked over the wiring diagram and it is a straight shot yellow tr wire from the headlight switch to the parking lights. I have put my testing light on this wire and just like the parking lights themselves, power turns off when the headlights are turned on.

If you want parking lights just connect the park light circuit to the headlight circuit with a diode to allow current to flow from the headlight circuit to the park lights but not from the park lights to the headlights....

Thanks for the suggestion. I plan to keep things stock, so there is no need to do anything, right?

My unaltered '68 R/T's parking lights go out when headlights go on. Must be '69 like you said.

Hell.. I'd better go check my own '69's LOL.. I know '70's work..
