OK the car was produced Dec 65 it is a 66 model, what would engine date codes be on a part and would the part (dist in this case) have the same part number as 66 or 65? I have no Idea if this part was made in 65 or not (probably). Thinking Nov 65 date code? Not up on this stuff nor has it ever came up for me before.

Part numbers could span years. Date codes for 'correct' builds are typically up to 3 months ahead of production. On 67-68 Mopar stuff I've touched it seems 1-2 months is more realistic for born with parts.

This one is just strange since it is a distributor, the 65 curve for it is different, guy wants it right the one he took out was June 66 I believe, but it could have been changed also. Now I really see why 100 point cars are worth so much!

Rule of thumb is within 3 months prior to build date....People will debate you if you have parts dated on or withing the week of the built date.....My 69 X built on 10/68 had 2 parts dated 11/1/68, the car was essentially a survivor....At that point what does one do...Follow the "rule of thumb" and change what was originally correct to fit the norm. Or leave them? Keep in mind people in the line grabbed whatever was in the bin and closet to them so at the end of a months and a bin low gets refilled this can happen....

Fuel pump on my early Mar production date 66 Satellite was K5 (Oct 65). Engine cast date 1/19/66 assembly date about 2/15/66.
