Pearls of wisdom from your dad.

My dad was a gun collector and dealer in vintage firearms. In my youth I’d help him out going to gun shows setting up his table and watching it while he was out scouting the show.
He had a saying he’d tell other collectors at shows often that I’ve carried with me in my car collecting.
“Rare junk is still junk”.

"Being a good person doesn't always mean you're a nice person"

"If you don't like the guy in the mirror, you're the only one that can change it"

@WileE My dad was the guy that would punch you when you were taking your jacket off! When my nephew was in middle school some guy won't leave him alone. When the confrontation came he punched the kid when he was taking his jacket off!

My dad was in the Navy for 7 years, during and right after WWII. "Dad, why don't you have any tattoos?" "A man doesn't need a tattoo and a tattoo doesn't make you a man!"
Yep, my dad was Army infantry in WWII who fought in the battle of the bulge. One time when I came home with a black eye and other facial modifications ( from just another altercation as usual growing up in the concrete jungle of Brooklyn ) he looked at me and all he said was " I hope the other guy got it worse". I nodded yes with a little smile, and he just patted me on the back.

My dad told me when I was a teenager,
“If you fail that’s my fault, if you succeed that’s your fault”
