The Massachusetts delegation convoying together to the Mopar Nats in Chelsea MI back in the summer of 1982. No a/c, cell phones or GPS; only road maps & CB radios. We never thought twice about driving our Hemi cars 1,500 miles for a long weekend together. Those days cruising together to far away meets really were some fun times and the best of times.

Absolutely; the trip was ofttimes a lot more fun than the event and more stories from the journey are remembered today.

A group of us Mopar owners used to drive from London, Ontario area to Chryslers at Carlisle, annually. It was 500 miles one-way, and was a day-long drive through the Pennsylvania hills. We marvelled at the beautiful.scenery observed through these hills and valleys. Some of the die-hard guys now tow their cars to the event in enclosed trailers, still. I could never make that drive in my old Mopar now, without cruise control and A/C.

We are all spoiled with the creature comforts of today’s vehicles. Back in the early 80s, most new cars weren’t equipped with creature comforts and niceties like cars of today have, so we just drove our old iron. Not many back then had the financial means to buy a tow vehicle and trailer either.

497.8 miles on the Bird from Atlanta to Alabama, Talladega and back to Alexander City in 2019. My Bee I'd have no issues driving across the country... it still has points! LOL
