Does anyone have a picture of their 318 Poly 4bbl with linkages attached? Mine is in a 62 Belvedere. I am swapping my 2bbl intake / carb for a stock cast iron 4bbl intake / Edelbrock 1405 4bbl carb and would like to see if I can modify my existing kickdown linkage or if I need to find another. The linkage for the 2bbl BBD is a single rod, threaded on the carb end with a socket attachment. This rided in a fingered bracket bolted to the rear of the manifold.

Thanks!

I have no photo but I reused the 2 bbl kick down linkage and bracket when I switched to a 4 bbl. Rod needed a little tweeking but worked out fine.

I had so many issues when I tried to make mine work that I just bout a Lokar throttle and kickdown set up, and still have it a dozen years later.

Thanks for the help. The reason I am asking is that every one I have seen is the two piece with pivot but the service manual shows a single piece rod like the 2bb only it looks longer. I measured a specified distance from back of manifold to center line of both the 2bbl and 4bbl accelerator shaft and the 4bbl is 1 1/4" longer.

Assuming the distance from accelerator shaft to trans kickdown pivot/throttle cable pivot on the carb is the same on both the 4 and 2bbl a longer rod should work. Any height difference could be made up with a spacer under the throttle cable/kickdown guide bracket. Plus welding in rod where it needs it in the kickdown. I will probably try that first.

Update: Got my engine in, hooked everything up and the stock parts work perfect. The throttle cable hold down bracket has a provision on the left and right for the cable and has two places the accelerator rod can sit. Going from 2 to 4 bbl I just used the other slots. Looks to be made for either carb from the factory (the carb spring bracket is even marked 2 or 4). The accelerator rod is a single piece so all I had to do was thread out the end until it fit on the carb. No issues.
