Going to replace my park brake cable this weekend. I have the Factory Service Manual and the instructions and illustrations are great back at the drum, but really vague about the cable connection to the mechanism. If anyone has pictures, or advice on how to connect the cable I would be grateful. Take care.

So if the pedal is all the way released can I get to the cable eyelet with the mechanism mounted, or do I need to pull the mechanism?
Thank you for those excellent pictures!

Pedal has to be in just slightly for the clevis pin to line up with the hole. Not sure if you can get the pin out the back enough without unbolting the mechanism, but it might tip enough to do so by removing the front bolt that goes into the "kick panel".

This info will be very helpful to me also. I have to replace the front cable on a friends 70 Road Runner, & wasn't sure how to go about it. Now I do. Thanks dadsbee. PS you help me with the rear drip rail piece on the same car if you remember. Very nice Super Bee by the way.

Yes thanks @dadsbee.
My park brake cable is on the FedEx truck for delivery, so I'm heading out to the garage to pull the mechanism.

If you have to take it right out go easy on the two nuts holding the bracket to the firewall, mine both snapped off..but then again mine was a Winter driven car in the heavily salted roads of Ontario. LOL

I need to take the splash shield off to access the firewall studs?

Mechanism loose. Still waiting on the FedEx truck for delivery.

Had to cut cable and pound out clip at frame with a socket. Still waiting on that FedEx truck.

So the park brake mechanism has no springs? Just clean and lube and reinstall?
