Plans for your car after you die

Working on mine lately.....to get rid of it. It's a rolling project. Moved it out from the shop a few days ago and have been loading parts into it that go with it today. Had a few project cars that got sold before completion but wanted to complete this one for sure. Oh well. At least I got to drive and drag race it for 10 years. Actually won a race with it before tearing it apart. Went 7 rounds of bracket racing around 97 with it. Slowest car at the track that night against the fastest in the final round lol!
I had a bracket story like that with an almost stock 1981 Honda Accord. I made it to the last round but in the round before that I took out a sport bike that was pissing everyone off for a few weeks straight. He never entered the brackets again after that, big baby.
I have no heirs, so I hope to sell them and donate the money to vets and critters. I don't want my wife dealing with the sharks...
I'm in a similar boat and with no wife. Critters will figure into my plans for sure.

I discussed this with my 3 sons. I have 3 cars presently and finishing a 4th. So I let them figure out which car they wanted and have what's called title on death in MD. When I die they become the boys property with no fees to the state. I'll probably sell the 4th car

George near me, has a klusterf*** of old British junk IMO.
His property is full, with British rusty things, and boats, and outboard motors, and bunches of other junk. He also has property in England, loaded with junk. I have saved him thousands of dollars by telling him he does not need any more bikes, or cars or other junk. But a Thunderbird arrived a couple of weeks ago. I talked him out of the two Kawasaki 400s, and an old Triumph. So many things he looks at, often at 0130, I have forgotten. Dave down the road recently formed a miracle, he got a chainsaw to run, but not without help from the chainsaw shop, and $$$ spent. I put my name on a green Austin Healey in case George dies before me.

I was at a car show the other day noticing how all the owners are getting older like me. Even most of the crowd was at least mid 30’s. I truly believe our classic and muscle cars are not going to be as important to the next few generations, much like the street rods have faded with interest and value today. Our kids didn’t grow up with these cars like we did. My kids have all moved away, and ya they like my Charger but none of them have really shown a great interest in it. So what do I do with the car once I die? Easy answer is sell it, but to who and how do I explain it to my kids? Or should I plan to sell it once I get older and can’t get around as easy, take the burden off the kids. What are your plans with your car(s)?
My kids nor my grandkids want my '63.

I'v been thinking about this more and more lately, as i have a will made out who gets my daily driver as i don't have any family, as I'm the end of the line.
My buddy that the car is willed to, is not doing well at all in the health department.
He lost a leg a year or two back, and can't walk.
Now he's on kidney dialysis too, taking up more of his quality of life problems.
Now should i change my will to someone else that i know is doing well, health wise.
I have some thinking to do.

Leave it to Shriners Children's Hospital....

I posted earlier that my estate plan has specific instructions for liquidation of the car at auction if the person designated to receive it is not in the picture. This clause takes away a lot of guess work for an executor who probably is not familiar with our hobby and the market.

I had made some plans years ago with some knowledgeable friends, but life went on and we are not in touch much anymore. My grandson has shown some interest, but with a Custody battle looming, that may be out of the question. My wife is clueless on the cars, but does enjoy the social aspect of getting out with them. My kids have drifted away, and pretty much out of the picture. Kinda hoping some Comet comes by, and takes us All Out at Once. That would solve any serious future thought process, for it all...
