These pulleys and brackets are driving me nuts, does Mopar make a million different ones or what. I am finishing up the final things on my 451" (400BB) and am having fits finding the right pulleys and brackets. I went to a friends who has a bunch of 440's and 383's to look for a set and everyone had a different setup. My setup has a 2 groove 100 amp alt. and will be running a sadden compressor and power steering. I will make the A/C bracket but need some help figuring the rest out, keep in mind I'm trying to use factory pulleys as I don't have the money to go buying aftermarket pulleys and brackets. I already mounted the alt but it's off a groove (needs moved out in order to get 2 belts on it) and the power steering pump I have seems to fit but looks to be missing a bracket off the back side. So, do I need 2 belts on the alt and water pump? Do you need 2 belts on the A/C pump? If so did Mopar make a 5 groove pulley. Sorry but both motors I've purchased had been stripped so I never saw the setup to begin with, any pics or ideas would be great. DSCN7734.jpgDSCN7735.jpg

I don't know dude. Sounds like it couldda gona a lot worse. At least you did get it running. Did you have a temp gauge on it? Sometimes they can feel a lot warmer than they are on break in.

Not sure what your talking about, maybe wrong post?

I put together a 505 inch stroked 440 for my dad's e-body and it has power steering/2 groove alt./sanden compressor and will look at it tomorrow to see what ya need. The sanden compressor does use some brackets from bouchillon performance that bolt to water pump housing and if memory serves, the power steering pump has 2 brackets (front and rear) and a special "double spacer" that is a factory part.

four groove crank pully. two belts that circle and drive the alt and A/C pump. One belt for the fan. One belt for the PS. The fan belt needs a tensioner. If your alt is off center you are using the wrong alt brackets for it. Pics would help

I've been having the same problem. I think the important thing to focus on is as long as the accessory gets turned, anything goes. I've seen set-ups where the alternator is turned by the crank and water pump pulleys and the p/s pump is turned by the crank pulley only. I've seen where the alternator has two belts turning it, and I've seen where the alternator is turned by the crank pulley only and the water pump pulley turns the p/s pump only. I was looking at a 74 Imperial yesterday that had two belts turning the alternator and it used the tensioner pulley between the alternator and the AC unit.
