I will soon be pouring my driveway. It will be 300 feet long and I got to thinking I might build it in a way that I can practice launches with my cars without leaving marks all over the road out front. People have asked:"Did you make those marks?" I look over at my cars, including a '64 Plymouth with slicks, and smile. With 300 feet and a flat pasture at the end, there should be room for working on 60 foot times. It's a safe distance from any buildings in case I get sideways. I can wire in a Christmas Tree and Timer to get things (and me) dialed in.

How wide, 12? More?
Is 300 feet long enough?
Thoughts, advice?

I have one 16’ wide and it seems narrow when going fast. 2 cars can go in opposite directions easily.

Having the flat pasture at the end is nice. I don’t have that so I have to make a turn, need to be down to 30 mph.

12' doesn't allow much wiggle room especially for launching.

If you have the room and the money, make it 60 feet wide and 1000 feet long. Invite your friends over and charge admission.

When can I come over??:steering:

Hell yeah.
The more rubber on it the better. Bleachers, beer tap, and porta potty. (I ain't cleaning up after a bunch of drunks)

Looking at the Mustang video, that looks like 12 feet wide and that does look like it would be a minimum for width.
Watching it makes me realize that I'll have to make the Christmas Tree mounts so they can be left or right side.

If your brave launch out of the shop lol, I did a Burnie in the cummins in the shop, was a bitch getting the pig out, but hey why not.
Also, a driveway with burnouts down it could bring some new friends. To me that's a resale investment lol

Practice makes improvement. If I can make any where near 10% better 60 foot times, I'll be going a lot faster. I hope at least to develop some consistency in different temps and such.
I know people you don't want in your car if you say: "That's all it has in it". They'll show you how wrong you are. So I never say it.

Make sure its not a trowel finish. Although thats great for noise. But great idea on the launch pad.
