My 73 has a power antenna - not sure if it's original (I have parts of my build sheet/not complete as mice found it to be great nesting material!) Is this an option - where might I look on the build sheet (if so). Finally - there's a red and a green wire ..... how do these connect to the radio (former owner disconnected and installed aftermarket stereo (hack job).

The Green wire should go to a ground, the red to a hot 12v.

If needed, you may hve to put a second switch to actually make it go up and down .

Godspeed,
JON

I was hoping to have it go up when radio is turned on as factory - I'll figure it out - thanks. Any body know how to tell if factory equipped ? A buddy of mine has a "white book" for decoding build sheet, trying to get a hold of it.

Thanks

who needs the "H" !

THat extra " H " just would slow me down..... HAHAH

I am not aware of an option for the B bodies... perhaps available in C bodies and added later? I prefer that same setup... have somthing like that on Superbird clone. I have it wired manually since my old car still has a cassette in it and I do not need the antenna except for the radio. Oh, who am I kidding... I hardly turn it on anyway!

Godspeeed,
JON

I probably won't use the thing either - but may go with a hidden aftermarket just to have some "tunes" and will keep the power antenna (no reason to kill any more love bugs than necessary !) I see your in GA - ever make it down to the Garlits' show ?

NO I have never made it down to the Garlits show... heard it is great. I am unable to travel far due to an ongoing disablility.

I am in Gainesville,,,,, north of Atlanta. I put a power antenna for 2 reasons:

1. easier to put a car cover on

2. Looks better when I put the NASCAR decals and 43 's on the side of the car. More "correct" looking... - HAHA, yeah right. Actually my old radio is on the fritz now .. antenna goes up and down just fine - oh well....

Good luck and maybe someone will chime in about the hood up you are looing for.

Godspeed,
JON

Thanks for your help and comments - I know what you mean about the car covers, always hated cutting a hole in a perfectly good cover. Another plus to power antennas : had a friend when I was younger who was standing next to a car as it backed out of a garage, antenna caught on something in the garage hanging from the ceiling, antenna popped loose, whipped over and put his eye out !
