Power gear box adjustments

how is it possible to adjust a power gear box on a 71 rr with 383 without touching the hot exhaust manifold?

No, the way i do it is to raise the front end and adjust a little at a time until the play is gone, carful not to go to far or it will start binding.

Yep. Do all you fellas know about centering the control valve? Crack the 2 -1/4" cap screws holding the control valve on the top of the steering box and with the front wheels off the ground, engine running, tap the control valve front or back IF the steering wheel turns by its self off the ground, until it stays put. Easy peasy.
