PP1 68 GTX with red stripes

Why red on red? Who would order that? Will need pictures to believe it.

Thought about trying some on Fred, since he's not exactly a factory red. Wonder what that would
look like?
(Yeah I know, silver is the obvious choice with Fred, but just sayin'...)

It has "2" under the "s" on the fender tag. From what I can tell that indicates red stripes.

They did build cars with stripes and paint color the same, like TA & AAR. How about cars with the V21 blackout hood 69-70 RR GTX, 70-71 challenger. Then the 71 Duster and twister & Demon Sizzler. All were available and built with black paint.

The 2 under the s in ubs, does mean red stripe. I have seen it on other cars where the body and stripe are the same colour. I have seen a black car with a black stripe, for example. It is unusual.

I've also seen blue on blue and green on green.

I actually like that.

Not quite as cool as black stripes on a black car, though.

My 68 GTX has a red stripe but has a 3 under the s at the ubs spot, so does that mean a PO added the red ?

I had a dark red metallic (Inferno Red) 2005 Magnum at one time. I highlighted the side contour lines with a Tomato Red pinstripe, and thought it looked pretty sharp.

any photos of said car/stripes red on red ?

:xscuseless:

I like same color stripes on some cars. It makes you look twice to make sure you saw it.

I wonder if ?
the stripe is/could be made a shade/darker/lighter (?)
or a tad or so different, than the body paint is (?)

I liked the flat/matt black on TX9 gloss black, billboards, or stripes

I wonder if you could get a flat/matt texture/finish on the striping too

In 1968, were those side stripes reflective ?, I can't remember,
I know the red in tail/trunk trim panels on the GTX were

IIRC the greens on green
& blues on blue etc.
were usually a lighter/darker shade
(weren't they ?)

my 68 RR when I 1st got it
had a painted on pinstripe on the body/brow "accent paint" feature
on tops of the fenders
that was a what looked like a darker blue/like 'a cobalt blue'
far darker than the org. LL1 Turquoise paint was
(I think it was optional, or only either (white ?) red or black from the factory,
I'd have to look)
I liked it... I may have a pinstriper add it later, again...

I remember seeing a Challenger T/A that was "quadruple black" (top, paint, stripe & interior) at
the old Mayo Beach Mopar show back in the early 80's.
I about fell all over that car. SO COOL!!
Wonder where it is now?

Fred is a handsome fellow just like he is.
Thank you kind sir.
This is what he was born like originally (of course, he was seriously rougher than this when obtained):

In all honesty, if I ever put the stripes on, I'd feel obligated to put all the other gingerbread back on him too - and I agree with you, I like him sans accoutrements. :)
