Last summer I sanded down most of the engine bay of my 68 Charger...to the metal. Due to some truly nasty circumstances, I was forced to let it sit until now. Believe it or not, it did not rust. I'm not sure when I'll be able to get it painted, but I was thinking about priming it. According to Por15's adds they have a self etching primer that can be sanded and painted. What does self etching mean? If I primer it and keep it inside where it is, semi-climate controled, how long can I leave it without worrying about rust forming? Thanks in advance. I may rattle can the engine bay. I've done it before (it took more paint than I thought) and it came out real good.

self etching means the primer bites to the bare metal.

to expand on tracys statement, that is what you want to put on bare metal.spend the extra money and use that now.you may have to have a paint shop make up some spray cans for you if you cant find some and dont have a spay rig.
