Hi, Want to take dash out of my 64 Fury
It's a push button trans
How do a go about disconnecting the 2 cables at the dash end

I see one has a clip and washer on it, got dash half out, other doesn't have a clip ??? Anyone taken them off at dash ?
 
Here you go from my 63 Factory Service Manual: The bottom picture is for your car. The upside down text is for increasing your circulation by standing on your head to read it. A no charge extra...lol.

Thanks Coloradodave, That little item marked CLIP on gear shift cable is missing on mine, I didn't want to pry on it cause it looked like a press fit thing, now I guess I can pry it off on get a clip when I reinstall. Thanks
 
From my experience you'll have to pry the shift cable out. The parking break is held on with the cotter key.

I'm glad I mounted a 64 shifter in the center of the trans tunnel.So easy to get to those clips.
When I remove the trans,I remove the cables from the shifter.Much better than the mess from under!

Very cool old school setup HEMI-ITIS! I remember seeing that at the drags back in the day.
 
Why stay with a push button trans if your going to move the buttons?
Just go with a newer trans and shifter more options.
 
Because its a pushbutton and they are cool. Majority of people don't even know they existed. I love when they say "How do you shift it".
 
Never miss a shift,mine is a manual reverse valve body with good internals. What makes a 70 TF better than a 64??
 
Got it out. Wasn't bad, lowered front of dash, took 2 pins out. Cables off. Dash on stand now, take everything off now, paint, redo everything,
