Quarter panel seam sealer question

Hi guys. I am replacing the quarters on my 71 & cut the majority of the panel off today. I noticed this strip of what I assume to be seam sealer or some kind of rubber epoxy in a groove in the understructure of the sail panel. I dont think the quarter panel was tight against it here. I am curious if anyone can guide me to the correct product to replace it with when I'm ready to graft things together...

It's seam sealer strips. They come in a box (and are frequently stuck together) but are affordable and easy to use.
