Quarter window chrome trim install ?

I am looking for advice on adhering the 1/4 window and front window vertical trim piece to the window glass. I see where someone used roof and flashing sealant. I have already tried 100 percent silicone and 3m trim adhesive with no luck. The trim falls off the quarter window after a couple of revolutions of the window crank. What is everyone else using to adhere these pieces. Is the flashing sealant a good bet? 67 Coronet hardtop.

No sealant. Channel of the chrome gets installed like your vent windows do. Uses a compression tape or glass setting tape.
