What was the reason for making 1968 etc, convertible tops with a Zip Out Rear Window ? Someone suggested I should always Zip out the rear glass window prior to lowering top. I was not aware of this, is this correct ? Thanks

Somewhere in my literature, I remember reading the zip out was touted as 'being able to enjoy the flow through of air without the top being down' or some such reasoning.

The window does not have to be zipped out to lower the top.

Thanks, That makes sense, but I thought I would ask the question.

The window doesn't fold....and stows easier.

Plastic windows should be unzipped in cold climates when putting top down or it could possibly crack. Glass windows should be always unzipped and layed in boot before putting top down or the top may not fold right when the top is put down.
