I'm new to this forum & enjoy reading the different topics. I have a '69 Dodge Charger & would like to put on some 15x7 Magnum 500's with 2 - P235/70R15 BFG Redline & 2 - P215/70R15 BFG Redline. Am wondering what the opinions are out there - am I thinking in the right direction as far as tire size and would this tire choice look okay?

Also, I have a fan blade question. I have a 7-blade fan; it was off & want to put it back on and am not exactly sure which surface faces the radiator?

Thanks for all opinions & help!

Hi
Welcome aboard and thanks for joining the forum!

Wisconsin huh? Great place!
Anyway,
My 70 Superbee has BFGs:
Front: P235/60/15s
Rear: 275/60/15s

I think at least a 255/60-15 would look better on the back of the Charger. If a had a '69 Charger, I'd put some 275/60-15s on the back, but that's just me.

Welcome! I think it all depends on what look you're going for. If you're wanting a stock look, those choices would be fine... except I think 215 tires are too small. 225 is the lowest I would go.

If you're wanting more of a muscle car look, I would go with 245 or even 255/60/15s on the back and 225/70s on the front.

Welcome here. My sizes of tires are" 225x70x15 fronts and 275x60x15 rears. These are fairly equal in height but are about an inch taller than stock.

Our cars do look better when those huge wheel wells are a little more filled out.

215's on the front are fine....235's on back are too small.....you have an almost unlimited wheelwell ......275 by 15 on the back......BUT...you may have to go to an 8 inch wheel

I like either: front 15x7 245/60/15 rear 15x10 295/50/15, or front 15x7 225/70/15 rear 15x8 275/60/15. With either of these combos, the tire height is fairly close front and back and you can get a nice rake without being to nose down. Just a heads up though, if you go with the 295's backspacing is very important.

1970 Plymouth GTX - similar to Charger :icon_winkle:

Front = 245x60x15
Rear = 295x50x15

Both work out almost the same height and the extra footprint out back makes it looks better than if they were all the same size.

:icon_thumright:

Same sizes I have on my current 68 RR,
easily fit on the Charger too,
I had a similar combo on my last 68 Charger, just different wheels

IMO These big cars need the larger diameter tire to fill up the wheel wells
or it looks like they are on roller-skates...
That is if you go away from OEM Pure Stock look....

Tires & wheels are like jewelry, it's such a personal thing
Opinions vary vastly !!

I may be going to 17"s front & 18"s rear possibly in the future
If I can find a tire with some decent sidewall

What size wheels and backspace are you running on the rear of your GTX? Any rubbing issues? I would love to use 295's on my Road Runner, but they would be very,very tight.

I'm running 15x7 wheels all round....probably why my 295's don't look that wide side on. Standard backspace (I cannot remember the exact measurement) :icon_winkle: Absolutely no rubbing, and they ride nice for a big tire. I just cannot bring myself to running 17" or bigger - I don't belive they suit a factory look....that's my 2 cents on that.

Taken at speed on the first set of tires...245x60x15 all round (do not adjust your set...)
GTX at 277 small.jpg

This is the rear view with 295x50x15 - plenty of room to outer lip while running 15x7 wheels

iPadApril2014 297.jpgBig meats transformed the attitude on the R/T. Shoved 295 50 15's on 8" rim back there. Fit without modification, but this is a Coronet.
