Hello all! Young first time DIY'er here, with a few questions and concerns I have searched the answers for and haven't seemed to come up with answers...

1. My dad purchased this intake manifold (http://m.ebay.com/itm/181682248799) for me, bless him, to put onto my 318la motor. I have a 1976 plymouth fury sport, and the old throttle / kickdown and throttle return spring brackets do not fit, surprise! I then purchased myself a reman. holley 4160 600cfm carb, and my question is which brackets do I need to look at to make this thing work? I've been looking at lokar stuff but I'm just not sure, nor do I know anyone who can give me insight on this. I do already have a new lokar kickdown cable.

2. The manifold in question has, you can view in the pics on ebay, extra holes above where the 12manifold bolts go, which I've plugged with the supplied slugs. What are these holes for? Magnum heads? Just curious.

3. I removed my frozen, ugly, dirty air pump, which had never been connected, and the tube that it connected to after the valve connects directly to the exhaust manifolds immediately behind the motor, and where they bolt to the motor. Are there block off plates for these? Or should I a) crimp and squash the remaining tube shut, or b) just get headers and call it a day? Hmm I think I know the answer here. And Yes the car needs to pass emissions still where I live, lovely right? But all they do is check for the cat con then shove a probe up my tailpipe.

3) what else, emissions related, might I do away with while I'm digging around under the hood?

And finally 4) what's the best way to clean the internals of my engine? I removed about a pound of gunk from the top end after pulling off the old intake, which tells me there's probably a lot more where that came from elsewhere in the engine.

No head gasket leaks, not burning coolant, only leaks were vcg and the intake gaskets. Aside from the tranny.

318 la, 904 trans.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hi sdb8976, how're you doing? Welcome:wav:

You're right about the extra holes, the manifold will fit Magnum or earlier versions. I haven't seen the block off plates you need, but you could always just weld up the plate you have after extracting the tubing from it.

Let's see some photos :)

Here we go! 4th pic is of the old, dirty manifold (bruised my ribcage pulling that sucker off) 1st is the new setup, sorry for the shakey phone pics. Thank you again!

i was told to use the bouchillon performance kickdown cable instead of the lokar.
just a thought there.
nice car btw,i kinda wish id gotten into those,i deffo could have saved a few.
lmk if you have a 9-1/4 rearend,i think i have a 410 gearset w pinion that would move that car right along.

That's definitely a plus, everything is so cheap compared to others. Probably true of most American cars of the era.

I do have a 9 1/4 rear, how much would you ask?

And thanks for the tip, I'll look into bouchillon before I pull the trigger on anything like that. Gotta figure out my bracket situation first :p
