I had the "canopy top". Was that required for the sunroof option? Rare vs desireable. A "three-on-the-tree" was rare. But not desireable.
Don't do it! Originality is king, leave it as is and love it for what it is and be happy in the knowledge that you have something unusual. I've seen plenty of cars that people did funky things to because of what was trendy (or so they thought) at the time only for a few years to pass and they, or the next owners, are madly trying to get it back to how it left the factory. I just think that having something no-one, or hardly anyone else has, is kinda cool.
Even tho the later B bodies are going up in price, the Challengers and Cuda bodies didn't change since their introduction in late 69 and I think that's one of the reasons why they shot up in price before anything else from about 73 on. The E body was pretty popular and when the prices of the 70-71 went through the roof, the next alternative was the 72 up....That's what people said about the '73 '74 Challengers. Give it time, they will come around too!
Did they make any sunroof cars without the vinyl top option? Or was it just a way to cover hack work from the factory?
Wow!, a '73 triple black 340, Road Runner, that is extremely rare,I've never seen any triple black '73 or '74's,
I'd do it back to stock, or it'll just look like all the other '73's (not that it's a bad thing) but it would really stand out at the shows.
here's a picture of my '74 360 Road Runner, in 1991 (no stripe) that was the original paint/vinyl top.
i turned my 73 vinyl top to a non vinyl top car - don't regret it...
