Hey guys anyone ever use the crower cam saver lifters??? I’m thinking of switching to them. I really want to do a roller set up but there’s none out there

I’ll bump your thread since no one replied yet.

I have not used them.

Probably not used much because with a Dremel & a 0.025" cut off wheel, you can grind a groove down the side of stock lifters, get the same result..& save a bundle of cash. Been doing it for 20+ yrs....

Been done forever...no big secret.
A little extra lube never hurts:D

There's also the EDM style, same principle...get some oil right on the lobe.

I use to chuck them in a lathe and them hand crank a scratch down the body with a cutting bit. Fast and simple.

[1] Hole in the base only works for solid lifters....
[2] You do not need or want to extend the groove from the oil band to the top of the lifter. It just bleeds oil pressure off unnecessarily & does NOTHING.

Should have added: nor do you want to extend the groove all the way to the lifter base. Go to within 1/8-3/16", not critical Some lifters have 'no chamfer', for use with aggressive lobes that require the FULL lifter diameter. A cut in the lifter base could cut into the lobe.

Is this a new cam? If cam lifters are broken or new and you what extra protection do the base to oil groove. Buying new flat tappet lifters when you want roller cam and lifters means a longer wait for them.
See post #8 number 2.

The groove starts at the oil band & goes DOWN to within about 1/8" of the base.
