Rear end ratio change

3.55 gears. I have 3.73 in another car, and I felt it's too much. Put on the tallest tire I could fit, and still ended up putting in an overdrive trans.

That's what I thought. So far, I'm still leaning toward the 3.91, if it were mine. If your motor is nearly stock, maybe the 3.73.

What has been done to your 383? Cam, headers, intake, heads, and compression ratio?

My engine is a stock bore 383, 915 stock heads, upgraded cam, upgraded intake and Edelbrock 1406 carb. Exhaust is run through stock HP manifolds and 2 1/2 pipes and mufflers. Its not a race car but it really sound good and is plenty to get me in trouble!!!!

In the 80s' my 67 GTX (440) was my daily driver. I used the 3:23, 3:55, and 3:91 sure grips for highway, cruising and drag racing. For street and occasional highway trips the 3:55 is a good fit for all around performance with your tire size.

Just buy a complete 3.91/4.10 chunk and swap it between your 3.23 depending on what you are doing or a gear vendors if you want to spend the coin.

Thanks for all the replies, I believe I have settled on getting a 3.55,,,,Ed
