The interior of my "72 SSP project car is completely stripped. Did some test fitting today of the plastic panel that is placed on either side of the back seat. At the top of the curve, lower than the package shelf there is a hole for an apparent fastener. However, there is no corresponding hole in the quarter panel area below the sail panels. The trunk partition is bare but I thought maybe a factory 90 degree clamp or something was supposed to be here to provide threads for an apparent fastener that would "penetrate" this hole. The plastic panel has several other obvious attachment points, so even if this hole remains "open" it probably doesn't matter much. Thought I would ask anyway. Thank you.

Interesting topic. I'm parting out a 73 Satellite and when I went to remove these panels I do not recall there being a screw in that particular hole. When I read this I wanted to investigate. So I took one of the rear lower door panels (RH) and took it out to my Satellite shell. I lined it up to it's original location and eye balled the area of where that screw hole in the panel would meet up. It turns out that you were correct that there should be some sort of an "L" shaped bracket with a threaded hole. Mine did not have any type of such bracket. So it was basically open air the the screw would penetrate thru. And I really believe that this car was never torn down by POs so if there is such a bracket this car didn't have one. I've attached pics to prove my point and to help out. The 4th pic down I added a red circle to where (if any) bracket should be.IMG_7056.JPGIMG_7057.JPGIMG_7058.JPGIMG_7059.JPGIMG_7060.JPG
