Relocating 68 GTX Fuel Cap

I added another filler neck to the fuel cell on the right side. Now I can fill the tank from either side of the car. 17 gallon cell.
 
I wouldn't with my '69 GTX. But saying that? Fuel behind the license plate is a bonehead design? Yes, you gain some trunk space. And keep the body lines cleaner. But it causes leaking/venting issues over time? As well as a more dangerous placement for fire.
I found out real quick to make sure the cap is on tight and correct with the behind the license plate design ….especially when the tank is full.

Did your fuel economy go down as you were laying a wet trail behind you? Lol. Been there. Done that.
 
I'm quite used to the filler being behind the plate, having had more than a few b-bodies with that feature.
Learned a long time ago to use the gas cap to sort of wedge the license plate open so the gas station hose
could be left in there pumping away...
You learn to get away from directly behind the process the first time the thing burps back at you. :)
Oh, and the flip-top would just look tacked-on and wrong on a '68 GTX.

I finally got my conversion done, I used the Charger's quarter panel depression area and butt welded it in. The Charger filler tube had to be extended 2", I used some exhaust tubing for that. I like the way it looks, but if I change my mind, it can easily be changed back when I replace the quarter and trunk pan.
One issue (that's not much of an issue) besides the length of the filler tube, is the Coronet's quarter panel angles back a few degrees more than the Charger. So the filler cap rubber seal doesn't meet the filler hole flush, but once the cap is latched, the spring accommodates this and makes the seal.

To the OP: I looked at my '70 RR and the tops of the quarter panels look similar to the Coronet, so a 68-70 Plymouth should fit the same.

Here’s the filler tube, you can see the extension piece I made. Also the vent tube fits inside the frame rail just like the Charger.
