Replace Upper Control Arms?

Hi al, I asked this in my restoration thread but thought It might be better to ask here; Should I replace my upper control arms? I stripped them down today and noticed that the mounting sleeve for the ball joint got a little chewed up when I removed them. Also, both of the smaller bushing mounts are dented. They appear to be in the same spot so maybe this is normal?

If the ball joints screw in fully and are tight along with the bushings pressing in correctly you should be fine.

I would go with the QA1 upper control arms. They allow you to run more castor which helps make the car more stable at highway speeds. Looks like your originals are all pitted from rust as well. Do you want all of your hard work riding on a sub par control arm? I say this because I think that stock lower control arms on these cars are also inadequate.

I said aftermarket UCA would be the way to go, especially with an alignment setup for radial tires. I boxed my factory LCAs and used QA1 uppers. I think the stronger UCA really helps to stabilize the whole setup.

I put in OE ones, and my caster is off by about 5 degrees. I should have spent the money on better UCA's.
