I bought a heater core from RockAuto back in February, and finally got around to putting it in (yes, my project run slow here), and it doesn't seem to fit. The little bracket on the inlet/output pipes is a little high and therefore the core box won't fit together tightly. It is a
OSC 98520. Anyone else have this problem with replacement heater cores?

Should I:
Return it and get another (and from where)?
Bring out the Mapp gas soldier torch and move the bracket?

For 1971 Charger SE with 6.3L 383 with AC.

Thanks!!!

The one I got from advance auto was a little off too .. I think my problem was the tube length being to short sticking out of the firewall.... I think I had to tweak it a little to get it to sit straight in the heaer box also ... it's been a while but I know it didn't just drop in .... BUT, it was only $40 so I made it work! 4yrs running now and still good to go

I would send your original one or an original core to Glen-Ray and have it recored. It will fit perfect and be done right. Cost is a little more than cheap Chinese aftermarket but it will fit and function perfectly and will only need to be installed once. Buy once, cry once..there is no substitute for quality..

No substitute for an original. Because of this
I Have 3 heater/ac box setups just for parts.

Any Repudiable radiator shop should be able to repair and test the core if time is an issue.

Not in a hurry! The original was split at the core and multiple seam cracks. I took it to scrap and got $7 for it. Does anyone know if the place sells in addition to repair? I’ll call. Thanks
