Reproducing 63-67 b body parts

All these companies are distributors, we have to find out what shows they go to and get around all of them. A large number of parts are from Taiwan and China and they have shows for these guys. We just need to find out who is building. I also noticed PG Classic in Canada supplies these guys with parts and I believe they make many parts for these guys. I will dig and find out where these parts come from. In the mean time PG Classic has 25 % sales all the time.

Thanks! I'll check them out. B?E & A does have some parts I have not seen elsewhere and I've made noted of who has what.

If I remember correctly (old discussion with Mike)... Mike and PG get the parts from the same manufacture, but... as I stated earlier, Mike has the license from Mopar to have the part numbers and Mopar branding stamped on his parts (which cost more).
I'll tell you another thing too... A few years ago, the manufacturer of these parts produced a run of defective "C-Chromes" for the 66-67 Chargers. The parts were somewhat warped & twisted, and the mounting pins didn't line up correctly. Once Mike discovered the defect, he canceled all of his existing orders and refused to sell any more until the problem was corrected. His competitors did not... they continued to sell the defective parts to the customer.
I don't normally buy anything from Mike myself because I don't need to pay extra for pedigree parts, but some people do.

Where was the market research before someone invested in tooling and production for a $400 part that hasn't sold quantity three in that period of time?

I can virtually guarantee some parts would fly off the shelves if priced realistically.

How about a 67 R/T hood scoop for say, $250? For it's size and complexity, that sounds like a reasonable price point.
It would also probably be affordable enough to bring in non- R/T 66/67 Coronet and Charger owners as buyers.

How many 66/67 Plymouth owners need dash knob inserts?

They are available, but at $80 for a set of quarter sized plastic discs, it just feels wrong to make that purchase.
I think I'd rather just pull the rest of them out, and go buy a T bone, an 18 pack, some gas for the grill, a new set of BBQ tools and maybe something nice for the wife.

My. My....such fervor over this subject, seems like I ought to cc all of these posts to Mike and let him know he's not reading the situation right. What say you? Perhaps I should start a thread where everyone can say what they WOULD DEFINITELY buy if it were available.....discuss. I would think that something like a thousand posts should get his attention. Anyone think that can happen here? Geez...I sound like a rabble rouser..lol.

Bottom line... Average Joe cannot afford the prices being charged for many of these pieces, it's as simple as that. As I said early, I have purchased entire vehicles for less than the cost of one aftermarket tail light assembly. How do you justify that on a working class paycheck? Not to mention the fact that many people who needed these parts in the past had to make due with whatever they could find or afford. Quarter panels for 66-67 Chargers and Coronets were needed 20 years ago, the market is that much smaller now. By the time someone gets around to making them, the big market for them will have come and gone.
As YY1 said... if you didn't charge $1200 for a few pieces of chrome plated pot metal, they'd definitely sell. I know a lot of folks that need these pieces, but simply can't afford them, or can't justify the ridiculous cost.

On the lighter side... I was in the body shop the other day, and they had a 1933 Packard up on the lift that they were detailing for the RM Auctions. I was told that One... and I repeat, One headlamp assembly on that particular car cost more than my Charger. Now I don't feel so bad...

I had a similar experience when I e-mailed AMD regarding quarter panels for my 66 Satty...basically they told me tough luck. They went on to say there's not enough demand for 66-67 b-bodies. For more comments from FBBO members check my thread "Survey 66-67 Belvedere, Satellite, GTX Quarter Panels." Bottomline seems to be if you don't have a Charger, Cuda or Chevy you're screwed.

I wish there were parts for these as well. I bought and installed poor quality quarter patches on my '66 Coronet. They are OK but the lines are not crisp at all. I bucked up and bought chrome for the hood lip. Again pricey, but mine was shot and I couldn't find a nice used piece that satisfied me. I have three sets of tail lights........one good set now and only one nice set of surrounds. I have three 66 grills and three 67 as well (was going to convert). That's what it took to find one that satisfied my desire.
I guess all I'm saying is I would likely spend a good dollar to get a nice piece, I've certainly got dollars tied up now in fair pieces. But when it comes to $400 tail lights, not for me. That is absolute crap and the parts dealers know it! My kid's Barracuda is basically in the same state for those......we found used ones. Oh and I bought a '67 Coronet for parts...........but it ended up being too good to cut up! :BangHead:
Obviously I'm not cheap, but I don't like being ripped of by big business, and the prices being charged for a lot of aftermarket parts are pure bullshit. But I do understand supply and demand, so I accept I will be using second hand parts for most of my builds.
Rant over........................:occasion14:

Well, We have to take part of the blame. I'm working on a 65 Satellite and I new when I got it that it would be expensive to do. I've gathered parts that are scarce to find, and living in Canada that's hard being as a 1 yr only and made in US. I've also got a. AAR 70 Cuda. Now that was expensive to do, also a 67 and 69 Chevelle SS, I enjoy all cars. Ford, Chevys, Mopars, if I was a manufacturer of parts and I kept seeing mopar or no car, my prices would be going up, I like all cars no matter the make, maybe that's why Mopars are more expensive to restore
