I put 5 gallons of Imron on a fire truck back in the day.....sanded, buffed, the whole nine yards

looking back, I suppose I'm probably traumatized

I think so...... I put it on my Bronco 20 years ago, last I've used it I think

I would use it now, if need be; but there are so many options, some are very local

I think it was some ground equipment - Once and once only for me - Never again , maybe my co-workers wanted me dead , who knows , but obviously

I also remember the DuPont Centari brand

Imron was the first automotive paint I remember that you absolutely need a respirator at the very least... A fresh air system is a far better choice... Before Imron most paints were Acrylic Enamel or Lacquer... Twenty minutes spraying either of those without a respirator & you have colorful snot and a hell of a headache.... Twenty minutes spaying Imron without a respirator if you are lucky you'll be laid out in the hospital...

The stuff is a lot more nasty than earlier paints... Even spraying it with short sleeves it would make the skin on your forearms feel tight for a few days... Centari never did that...

I'm not much for red either and 3 of my 5 total cars are red. 2 of 3 Mopars Red.

it's all nasty, I was around Centari every day for about a year.....

I figured out very early not to get locked in a body shop 5-6 days per week....... I got out young, and managed to get a lot of fresh air along the way

Red cars used to be everywhere. Color changes were common when everything was dirt cheap; and I bet Earl Shieb sold more red than everything else combined.

This was my daily driver for awhile.

I called retina searing red as in the sun it was about that bright. After a while I got tired of being bothered or harassed by every juvenile driver in a Camry or Subaru WRX at stop lights wanting to race or to rev it up to hear the exhaust. I miss the car but not the attention.
