For the Sniper and Terminator folks...

I have a first gen Sniper and pretty certain my IAC is kicking the bucket, so going to just pop a new on in.

On Holley's Sniper forum one THE go to guys on that forum, an admin, had a post that listed the Standard Motor Products AC416 IAC was a legitimate replacement for the IAC in a Sniper - and therefore some of the Terminators, which I also have.

I'm asking the throttle body EFI guys... have you tried the AC416 as opposed to the Holley 543-105 official replacement? I ask because the price is nearly 2x for the Holley...

AC416 $47 - https://www.summitracing.com/parts/smp-ac416
543-105 $88 - https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hly-543-105

There's one way to find out.
But they sure look the same.
I'm betting they are.

So its a known issue that the iac fails. It's one of the changes they made to the sniper 2. Holley is no longer dealing wth the 1 and sold all their stock to Summit. They, Holley, will only deal with the 2. If you call and start complaining, they will let you send it in, and upgrade to the 2 for approximately $260. I have over 5 years, sent in 4 units! Finally, this year they are allowing the purchase of the 2.Of course they want to diagnose it. But usually not an issue. Since they are no longer repairing and sold all the stock to Summit, I think Its a wise upgrade.

Well, that's interesting. Maybe I will call and see if they'll get me a new entire unit... This one has some hard miles on it.

p.s.
i thought the sniper 2 used the same iac motor...

IAC motors can also get a buildup of junk on the plunger that will cause them to not work very well. When I worked at the dealers, that was a common issue. It could be solved many times by removing the unit, washing it down with some B12 Berrymans, scrub it with an old toothbrush, squirt it again and reinstall. Same deal on the throttle bodies too.

UPDATE!
For those interested...
I pulled the IAC and is EXACTLY the Standard Motor Products AC416, printed part number and all. And if you're wondering, I purchased this Sniper several years ago directly from Holley.

As a silly sidenote... as I was testing the IAC outside of the sniper, it actually shot off the cone... meaning the cone had come unscrewed, which could have been contributing to the issue in the first place.

We buy in bulk as we install hundreds of these kits every year and order a CV10008 direct from Standard Motor Products which crosses to the same individually packaged AC416 (or an AC27T) or Holley's 543-105.
We have also found this is plug and play with FAST EFI kits, but on Holley EFI kits 2 of Holleys wires need to be swapped and repinned in their connector on their harnesses.

That's great info... thank you!

Lol that's just how it works. Do not test that way

It will disaasemble if you run it outside of the throttle body.
The last "direct replacement for Holley" IAC I bought would not work. There was a step on the body that wouldn't allow it to seat and the internals were different to the point of it being non functional. I ordered the Holley branded part and it was perfect.
