I need my pulley on my new power steering pump to move out a half inch or so to clear my water pump pulley.

The existing pulley is dished, maybe I could flip it? Shim it out some?

Currently it lines up with my crank inside pulley, if I go that route I will need to find a water pump pulley that moves out 3/4" or so.

Normally does the water pump run on the inside and the steering pump on the outside?

Thanks

I had to work on the shimming of mine. If the power steering pump lines up with the crank pulley, you can't shim it or it will screw up the alignment with the crank pulley.

I'll bet your alignment is wrong with your water pump and alternator. Take the power steering belt off for now. Now sight your belt from the water pump to the crank. I would bet the water pump pulley is spaced out too far. Get those two aligned. Once the crank and water pump pulleys are aligned, THEN set the alternator where it needs to sit.

Once that gets fixed, I'll bet the power steering pump goes right in...

Sorry, scratch the above - I misread your post and see that the power steering pulley lined up with the inside, not the outside pulley. So yes, it should line up with the outside pulley - sorry for the error on the first response.

I just looked at the pulley on my power steering pump. Mine looks like it is mounted opposite of yours, so it looks like yours is on backwards....

Here's a picture of mine - not a great picture, but hopefully it helps. Note that while my alternator and A/C are not stock, the power steering pump is...
