I recently had my arse burned by a father son team from Baldwin City KS on a UPS COD charge. I sold the boy a very nice fender and front valance for his 70 Bee that he was restoring at a local votec and got burned $223 on the COD that was to be paid at the votech by the boy or his instructor.I wouldn't be so irate but I could have sold these parts a half dozen times for more money to people that I knew through this website or others and I thought I was doing this kid a big favor since he desperately needed these parts. Long story short, dad and boy don't have the nuts to call me, mom answered 2 emails saying that she would have boy take care of it and then said; I thought I paid for that online. Since these parts left the loading dock where I have been employed for the past 16 years plus the bill came directly back to my employer who then tracked me down and said pay this or else.Well, or else wasn't an option for me as I'm not a wealthy man so I paid the money. I contacted UPS and they danced around the bush a bit but never did give me a reason why this package was delivered without payment????:angryfire::angryfire::angryfire:
So if anyone locally happens to see a young lad in his early 20's driving around in a 70 Bee, please give him a swift kick in thee arse for me. I'll offer up names and addresses all you need to do is PM me.

I hate to hear this crap, You try to help someone and it seems everytime somehow, you get nailed.. Its happened to me so many times and everytime i go to do it now my wife says "remember what happened the last time?" I sure hope you get reimbursed, Kind of makes you never want to try to help again doesn't it?

i fixxed that problem years ago.....I QUIT BEING SO NICE AND HELPFUL !....problem solved!

Nutless in Kansas

I appreciate the sympathy an support guys and your right, I will just have to change the way I do business. This transaction was a product of a CL add that I posted back in March of this year. I've never been burned on this site and have made several good friends over the years while using FBBO. I guess it's time for me to crawl out from under that rock and realize that not all people are looking out for my best interests. These nutless bastards will get theirs in the end! I'm sure that this is their first scam and we all know you can only keep that **** up for so long before it catches up with you.:tantrum::tantrum:

Seems to me that UPS should be the one left holding the bag. If you shipped your items C.O.D. and have shipping/tracking papers showing C.O.D., and their driver left the items without collecting the amount due...I don't know how they can say they are not responsible!

I'd gather up everything you have that supports your cause and run further and higher up the chain of command @ UPS (aka USELESS!!)

Once again, a few a**holes out there ruin a good thing for everone.

Good luck to ya, brother. I feel your pain.

I have always been told " No good deed goes unpunished " and " Buyer beware ".

I think somebody should have said " SELLER BEWARE ", well I guess now at least I have said it. lol

I have not had good luck with CL either. I haven't bought or sold anythings here on FBBO yet, but I have on FABO (parts for my '71 Demon project) and am very happy with the results. As a lot of those guys are also on here I am sure I will be happy with the results when I finally buy or sell here.

I sure hope you can recover from your losses at a rapid pace and hope your next transactions are much more to your liking. Not everybody fixing these cars are jerks, but then again a lot of them are. My wife says I am a jerk lots of times. (I think she is just joking......well maybe!! lol)

Good Luck....Bill

cash first ,shipping second , if they dont trust you enough to send the cash , they can go elsewhere

First of all, never ship anything without being paid, period.
You should be able to file a claim with UPS. However a UPS COD still doesn't mean you'll get paid since they very easily could have handed the driver a bad check since UPS no longer will collect cash, check only on COD.
Good luck, it does suck dealing with a holes out there.
File a claim with UPS for the amount of the COD, they should be liable since they didn't collect the check (I'm a daily UPS shipper and small business owner)

Ups cod rip off

I just sent a letter today to the deadbeats in Kansas to let them know that I will be filing a small claims suit in 21 days if they don't pay up on their COD debt. You must give a 21 day written notification before filing so it went out registered mail today. I'll let you all know how this turns out....

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. My buddy bought your welder. I hope it works out for you on the claim. I guess you got to know or chat with someone for a while before doing business because in our conversations you seemed like a standup guy. Good luck.

I'm not too far from Baldwin City at all, don't see myself driving down to start a fight but let me know if I can help out in any other way. Agree with others that UPS should be liable for at the very least an explanation as to why the freight wasn't paid on delivery. Not all of us Kansans are bad!

I am a bit confused here. Normally, when you coordinate a COD transaction through UPS, the driver collects at the time of delivery. No money, item not left behind. That is SOP with UPS. Me thinks then that the driver should be the first point to find out what casued this to happen....

I have had stuff drop off, by our regular UPS driver that was COD, when I wasn't home to pay for it, that UPS billed me at a latter time for.... The UPS driver is a good guy, he knew I needed the parts & he knew they could bill me for the COD charges at a latter time, I'm rarely not ever home to receive the deliveries.... I'm sure, if pushed UPS could bill the "delivered address" for the outstanding COD shipping &/or parts purchase charges... Maybe stuff is different here in Calif. or we just have a great, logical, smart, UPS driver, is probably the deal...

I have a good re-pore with the UPS guy here, Wife laughs about us and the Fed-X guy are on a first name basis.. Real nice guys and even kid around with ya some..

s.o.b.

That sucks, hope you get your money. I always use cash if local or Postal Money Orders. Have bought off of (Spauldo) before, great guy to do bussiness with, good luck.

I quit shipping with UPS years ago after I bought a Beretta 92F from a gun dealer in Texas and was told I had to pay extra to have the pistol sent to my dealer overnight. I told him I had to wait three days to get the gun, so just send it second day, but he told me it was UPS policy that firearms had to be sent overnight.

I called UPS and was told the reason for their policy is the constant tracking that overnight packages receive makes it harder for their employees to steal them! I have to pay twice as much as I should because they can't stop their own employees from stealing!
