A complete rebuild was done on my Poly 4 years ago. Engine sat since then, no fluids. Recently turned it over a couple times by hand, no problems. I’m getting ready to fire it up. Would like to put something in the top of the cylinders for a little lubrication prior. Have read about Sea Foam, Marvel and an ATF concoction. Again, nothing to ‘unstick’ just looking for personal preferences on a little top end lubrication.

I like Marvel Mystery Oil for that.

I’ve never done it, but have seen people use 2-cycle mix in the carb to add some lubrication if an engine hasn’t been run in a while. Something like 40:1.

Not only giving the cylinders a squirt or two,I will add a quart to the gas tank during break in.

Sea Foam

25% Cleaner>Naphtha
60% Stabilizer>Kerosene
15% Oxygenate> Isopropyl Alcohol (common Rubbing Alcohol)

I think the fog is just the ticket. Thanks.

Use ATF and let it sit for 24hrs. Turn the engine over by hand going back and forth a couple of times. Then rotate.

I second (or 8th) the Marvel Mystery Oil personally, anything lubrication-based is better than nothing at all.

I coat the cylinders with motor oil on every motor I put together incase they don't get fired for a while, never had a problem.. oil burns out pretty quick. Might be worth a piece of mind to pull a few plugs and look inside, likely whoever bolted it together used some lube.

I agree just about any oil will work followed by cycling the motor.
