Securing items in the trunk, what do you use?

Just looking for some ideas on how to secure items in the trunk like my tool box and cleaning basket, etc, to keep them from sliding around. I got a trunk net, but I don't know if it will hold the tool box very well and I don't want to take a corner and have stuff sliding into the inside quarters and make dents.

I would like to know what works well and if you have some pictures that would be great!

Getting ready to travel. When you have the cooler, luggage etc it's easy. Otherwise I use a plastic wash basket for tools and ****. Also, one bungee on each side to contain parts in a shoebox. Ashamed to post a pic though, it is ugly in there. I too would like to see what others do.

I dont put anything in my trunk. I had a 69 satty for a dd 10 years ago. A buddy of mine and I fixed it up. New quarters and all. I had a bumper jack in the trunk and took a turn kind of fast one day and sure as ****, the jack slid over and I had a nice outpoke in the passenger quarter. Totally my fault. I was pissed and my buddy who installed the quarters and painted it was less than thrilled. So now nothing goes in the trunk

I use postal mail totes for loose items and groceries etc... with bungee cords like above between the wheel wells and a cooler... on my fairlane I made plywood enclosures to box in the quarters... I will put my tools under the rear seat wrapped in an old blanket along with some survival stuff and a first aid kit.... the Jack gets stoed and spare are a good place to hide a quart of oil and some cleaners and tire plugs etc..... there's a big spring that people loose for the Jack

See, now I never would have thought about using a laundry basket or mail tote with a bungee cord, that's a great idea, and big enough to fit my tool box!

I store my fuel there. Tank's secured with strap, little reserve canister on the side.

Oh... you mean once you're DONE with the car? Dunno, won't have a lot there except a spare, I guess...

I just throw a big old thick blanket back there it seems to work haven't slammed my oem cleaner around too much lol.

The spare tire holds about 6 #'s just seat it on the bead and air it up to 25psi and wash it off in pine sol before you put it back in there...

I use rhino ramps. I turn them upside down and place everything in between the support walls. I used to keep my bare 440 block in there with them.

In addition to the spare tire and jack, I will be putting two moving blankets and car cover in the trunk. Tools? They will be packed between the moving blankets, in a small tool box. I will also have some cleaning supplies there as well.

I have a Dual Liner in my truck bed and the mat on the floor keeps things pretty much in place under normal driving. Not just a thin piece of vinyl, around 3/8" thick, and semi-soft. Maybe they sell just a mat that can be trimmed to fit. Top heavy stuff can still tip.

The 64 300K I drive around in had interior panels made up that protects the 1/4's and it looks nice too

I have one them there oversize chairs that I wedge between the spare tire and one of the trunk lip supports and pack everything in there. hasnt moved yet!

It's a good legitimate question. I hear all the time about people putting things in their trunks and turning corners and getting their quarters messed up from the inside. Don't want that to happen to me. I don't plan on carrying much of anything in the trunk. Not sure if I still have a complete jack stand for a spare tire.

The trick is to put enough in the trunk so there's no chance of any of it rolling around.

I chose to finish my trunk building panels that got upholstered and the floor carpeted. I made the panels even with the trunk gutters, one side had a built in storage compartment and the other hides the battery but nothing can get to the quarters and the carpet doesn't allow much sliding.

Have not hauled hard things in the trunk since I got a truck. Use to keep the 9 drawer tool chest in the trunk of the 66 Bel. A seat belt worked great.
