Just bought a 67 R/T...440/727 and I had shift kits in other cars and the one in this car shifts like it should on second but realy slams 3rd.(even like a slight hesitation, then slams it) Shift points are usual at a grampa accelleration...2nd around 20, third around 30. When under accelleration, 2nd still does fine but 3rd actually gets better than normal stop sign to stop sign. Fluid is ok. Linkage is set properly. (kickdown)It does even better if I manually shift under more than normal acceleration; again 2nd is fine in any condition.
Just to reiterate...just bought the car and I know little about it except the owner claims a shiftkit and from experience before, I would agree with that at least.
Valve body ??
Input helpful...Thanks to all in advance

You describe a TransGo TF2 perfectly. Tons of people use them and swear by them. But, they have a bad reputation of binding on the 2-3 shift and it feels like an extra hard shift, when it's really not. What's happening is, it is binding IN 2nd and 3rd at the same time for an instant and when second lets go, that's when it bangs into 3rd. No way to tell for sure, but that sure sounds like what you describe. There is a fluid restrictor in the TransGO kit and if it is not utilized, that is what will happen. It slows down fluid flow between 2 and 3. That's why I prefer another type kit, because I don't think restricting fluid is ever a good idea. JMO though.
